A pyelogram is a special type of X-ray test that helps doctors look at your urinary system. During the test, a dye (usually one that contains iodine) is used so that the kidneys, ureters (the tubes that carry urine), and bladder show up clearly on the X-ray. This test helps doctors find problems like kidney stones, tumors, infections, or blockages. It gives clear, detailed images so they can see both how the urinary tract is shaped and how it is working.
Cystoscopy is a procedure that allows your doctor to examine the lining of your bladder and the tube that carries urine out of your body (urethra). A hollow tube (cystoscope) equipped with a lens is inserted into your urethra and slowly advanced into your bladder. This is usually performed by a Urologist.
Circumcision is the surgical removal of the foreskin from the human penis. This is usually performed by a Urologist.
Vasectomy is a surgical procedure for male sterilization. During the procedure, the male vasdeferens are cut and tied or sealed so as to prevent sperm from entering into the urethra and thereby prevent fertilization of a female through sexual intercourse. This is performed by a Urologist.
Prostate biopsy is a procedure in which small hollow needle-core samples are removed from a man’s prostate gland to be examined for the presence of prostate cancer. It is typically performed when the result from a PSA blood test are high. This is performed by a Urologist.
