General Surgery

Breast Biopsy / Removal Lump
A surgeon makes a cut into the breast to remove either a small amount of the abnormal tissue or the entire lump. Removing the entire lump is known as an excisional biopsy. Lymph node biopsy: The doctor takes tissue from the lymph nodes under the arm to check for cancer cells. This is usually performed by a General Surgeon.
Drainage Abscess / Haematomas
Incision and drainage of an abscess, haematoma (blood clot) or fluid collection which has formed after surgery or as the result of a disease process. This is usually performed by a General Surgeon.
Excision Lipoma
Most lipomas are removed surgically by cutting them out. Recurrences after removal are uncommon. Possible side effects are scarring and bruising. This is usually performed by a General Surgeon.
Haemorrhoidectomy
Hemorrhoidectomy is surgery to remove hemorrhoids. You will be given general anesthesia or spinal anesthesia so that you will not feel pain. Incisions are made in the tissue around the hemorrhoid. The swollen vein inside the hemorrhoid is tied off to prevent bleeding, and the hemorrhoid is removed.
Hernia Repair
A  hernia occurs when fatty tissue or an organ pushes through a weak place in the surrounding connective tissue or muscle wall. Hernias usually don’t get better on their own. They tend to get bigger. In rare cases, they can lead to life-threatening complications. That’s why doctors often often recommend surgery. But not every hernia needs immediate treatment. It depends on the size and symptoms. A surgical hernia repair involves pushing the bulge back inside the body part that should contain it, and keeping it there. This is performed by a General Surgeon.
