Gynaecological Surgery

Dilation and Curettage (Scraping/Cleaning Inside of Uterus)
Dilation and curettage (D&C) is a procedure to remove tissue from inside your uterus. Doctors perform dilation and curettage to diagnose and treat certain uterine conditions—such as heavy bleeding—or to clear the uterine lining after a miscarriage or abortion. This is performed by a Gynaecologist.
Drainage Bartholin Cyst
The Bartholin’s glands are located on each side of the vaginal opening. The result is relatively painless swelling called a Bartholin’s cyst. If the fluid within the cyst becomes infected, you may develop a collection of pus surrounded by inflamed tissue (abscess). This is usually performed by a Gynaecologist.
Endometrial Ablation
Endometrial ablation is a procedure that surgically destroys (ablates) the lining of your uterus (endometrium). The goal of endometrial ablation is to reduce menstrual flow. In some women, menstrual flow may stop completely. No incisions are needed for endometrial ablation. Your doctor inserts slender tools through the passageway between your vagina and uterus (cervix). The tools vary, depending on the method used to ablate the endometrium. This is performed by a Gynaecologist.
Hysteroscopy (Inspection the Inside of Uterus)
Hysteroscopy is the inspection of the uterine cavity by endoscopy with access through the cervix. It allows for the diagnosis of intrauterine pathology and serves as a method for surgical intervention. This is performed by a Gynaecologist.
Labiaplasty
Labiaplasty is a plastic surgery procedure for altering the labia minora and the labia majora, the folds of skin surrounding the human vulva. This can be performed by a Gynaecologist or a Plastic/Reconstructive Surgeon.
Laparoscopy

A surgical procedure in which a fibre-optic instrument is inserted through the abdominal wall to view the organs in the abdomen or permit small-scale surgery, also known as ‘key-hole surgery’. This is performed by a Gynaecologist.

Laparoscopic Sterilization

Laparoscopic tubal ligation is a surgical sterilization procedure in which a woman’s fallopian tubes are either clamped and blocked or severed and sealed. Both methods prevent eggs from being fertilized. This is performed by a Gynaecologist.

Lletz (Biopsy of Cervix)
LLETZ stands for large loop excision of the transformation zone. This procedure will remove a small segment of the cervix (the lower part of your womb or uterus). This is performed by a Gynaecologist.
